Minnesota, March 17. Record cold for this date is -8 degrees F. That’s cold. Record snow, 11.2 inches, nearly a foot. That’s snowy.
Today, 9:50 a.m. it is 62 degrees, and going to 80 degrees today. The red-winged blackbirds are back already. The geese are nesting on the pond. I predict the remaining ice will go out today (it’s open all around the edges). A pair of woodducks have moved into the neighbor’s box, beating the hooded mergansers to the “duck motel” this year. The maple tree is in full bud, and the aspen are following suit. What’s that I see? It’s crocus leaves shooting through the sun-warmed soil in my garden!
It is a beautiful day! Just what did we do to deserve such a day as this? Absolutely nothing! God is in the House, blessing His children, and all is right with the world.
A mosquito landed on my wrist as I typed that last line. Given the blessings of the day, I can ignore it.
Have a great St. Patty’s Day! Get out and enjoy the sun!
